Please download and print the "New Patient Forms" below. Then, please fill out the forms and bring them to your child's appointment. If you have dental insurance, then please bring that information with you as well. These steps will ensure that we see your child as quickly as possible.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and our office recommend that your child visit the dentist by his/her 1st birthday. You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. Your child should be informed of the visit and told that Dr. James and his team will explain all procedures and answer any questions. Please download the free customizable e-book below to help them get comfortable about their visit.
We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination. The first part of the new patient experience will be a visual and oral presentation of healthy and unhealthy foods that affect everyone’s teeth. Our office believes that good nutrition is one of the biggest components of exceptional oral health. Next, the children will pick a toothbrush and demonstrate how they brush their teeth. Our friendly dental technician will give them some advice on how to do a perfect job each time they brush. There will also be a video playing on a large screen TV demonstrating proper brushing and flossing habits while they brush. They will then be escorted to a dental bench where they will have the cleaning and examination procedure explained to them. Depending on their age, we will employ different games, puppets, or “hands on” play to get them comfortable before the actual procedure. The hygienist will then thoroughly clean the teeth and Dr. James will perform an exam. X-rays may be required to detect cavities and assess proper growth and development of the teeth. At our office, we use the latest in child size digital x-ray equipment. We even have a new digital x-ray machine that will allow them to take difficult x-rays without gagging.
Dr. James will then discuss every aspect of your child’s teeth including proper diet, preventative measures, fluoride, avoiding trauma, harmful habits, growth and development, and general oral care.
We believe your children deserve the best and we will help provide that for you.
Your child will love getting this fun letter personalized for them from the Tooth Fairy. Not only is it fun, but it also helps educate them on the importance of proper oral health care and routine visits to the Tooth Fairy’s friend, the dentist.
Personalized Coloring Book
Your child will love having their own personalized coloring book from the dentist, and they can use it for years to come or you can preserve it in their scrapbook or baby book. It is fun and easy to use, try it yourself by clicking on one of the coloring books below.
